Teenager dead, man hospitalized following shooting in south Toledo on Friday

Officers responded to the 1400 block of Beecham Street around 2 p.m. Friday. Marshawn Robinson, 17, later died at the hospital from multiple gunshot wounds.

TOLEDO, Ohio — A teenager is dead and a man is hospitalized after a shooting Friday afternoon in south Toledo.

Officers responded to the call around 2 p.m. Friday in the 1400 block of Beecham Street near Spencer Street. The victims, who were initially identified as two juvenile males, were shot on the street, according to Toledo Police Department Detective Lt. Dan Gerken at the scene.

One of the victims, a 25-year-old man, was found lying in the street. The second victim, 17-year-old Marshawn Robinson, was found in the rear of a nearby residence, according to police. Both had been shot at least once and were treated at the scene before being taken to the hospital.

Robinson later died from his injuries. His cause of death was determined to be multiple gunshot wounds and has been declared a homicide, the Lucas County Coroner's Office said.

The 25-year-old victim was described in a police report as being in "critical condition" following the shooting. 

There are no suspects at this time.

According to a police report released Monday, an officer searching for one of the victims in an abandoned structure stepped on a rusty nail that penetrated the skin of his foot. TFRD treated the officer at the scene for the injury.
