TOLEDO, Ohio — Lisa Titkemeier appeared in the Lucas County Common Pleas Court Thursday, where she pleaded guilty to one felony count of theft.
Titkemeier was charged with a fourth-degree felony count of theft in March after investigators said she lied about a cancer diagnosis in order to raise more than $20,000 from the community. In Thursday's hearing, it was stated Titkemeier allegedly stole $25,158 in total.
Titkemeier could be sentenced to up to 18 months in prison and fined $5,000. She is scheduled for sentencing on July 25.
Titkemeier is seeking probation in the case.
On April 18, her case was continued because investigators said they needed more time to complete their investigation. Then, on May 30, her hearing was pushed back again.
On March, 11 Investigates first reported that Titkemeier was being investigated by Ohio’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation for lying about her lymphoma diagnosis. Tikemeier was instrumental in raising money for slain police officers Anthony Dia and Brandon Stalker. During those fundraising efforts, she mentioned to friends that she was battling cancer.
