ADRIAN, Mich — A shelter in place order has been lifted and roads have reopened Friday evening around the scene of a train derailment in Adrian earlier in the day, a city spokesperson said.
Beecher and Maumee streets were previously blocked off as crews worked to clean up the nine-car derailment that happened around 8 a.m. One of the derailed cars was carrying pressurized carbon dioxide, but emergency responders said it did not present a threat to the community.
The Lenawee County Sheriff's Office said there were no injuries in the incident.
Crews are still working to repair the tracks Friday evening, according to the city of Adrian, and the railroad is still going to be working through the evening.
The other derailed cars contained normal commodities, a Lenawee County emergency management spokesperson said.
