Bedford Schools warns of canvasser scam, illegitimate fundraiser

The canvassers are allegedly asking for money to support playground renovations, which the district says is not sanctioned.

MONROE COUNTY, Michigan — Bedford Public Schools is warning the public about a scam that involves canvassers illegitimately asking for monetary donations on behalf of the school district. 

According to a social media post from Bedford Public Schools, the district has learned of people canvassing the area. The district said these canvassers are asking the public for money to support playground improvements. The canvassers are not sanctioned by or affiliated with the school, Bedford said in their post.

If someone approaches you asking for money for Bedford, the school district said you should call the police substation at 734-243-7070.
