BLISSFIELD, Mich. — The Lenawee County Sheriff's Office is still looking for the driver of a semitrailer after a set of its dual tires flew off and launched into a Blissfield home near US-223 Tuesday morning.
Homeowner Michael Alexander would like the uninvited guests gone, but the tires may have an extended stay.
"It's hard to believe there's truck tires in your house, but then you go upstairs and you can see it was just in disarray," Alexander said. "I stepped on a piece of glass, the railing was pushed in, and then you go upstairs and everything was pushed against the railing."

Fortunately, no one was injured, but the two tires left a massive hole in the side of his home, destroying furniture and covering clothing in a layer of insulation.
Alexander said that at first, he was unsure how the tires could have possibly ended up on the second floor of his home.
"But upon looking more, I found wheel bearings," he said. "So without bearings, the tires seize up, the axle keeps spinning, and the axle wore out a hole in the rims."
This mechanical failure sent some truck's wheels bouncing into his home, Alexander said. It happened on US-223, which is a busy road, but still surprising, even for the Lenawee County Sheriff's Office deputy who arrived on the scene.
"He said in the 30 years he's done this, he's never seen tires in the upstairs of a house," Alexander said, with a laugh.
While deputies went up and down the highway looking for a truck missing two wheels, as of Wednesday afternoon, Lenawee County Sheriff Troy Bevier told WTOL 11 over the phone that they still haven't had any luck.
But Alexander said his biggest concern is just getting his house back in order.
"I was told 48 hours before the adjuster comes," he said. "And the hole, we were hoping to have done in 24 hours, but we're having trouble finding someone to do the emergency repair."
On top of that, actually getting the tires out is a puzzle in itself.
"Because they can't go down the stairs, and you can't push them out," Alexander said. "So the lady on the phone said maybe a crane."
