One person killed in semi truck, SUV crash on Fostoria Road

Jason Crampton, 48, of Findlay, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semi was uninjured and attempted to avoid the crash, according to authorities.

WOOD COUNTY, Ohio — UPDATE: Fostoria Road (U.S. 23) reopened shortly before 5 p.m. Friday, Wood County Sheriff Mark Wasylyshyn told WTOL 11.

One person was killed in a crash in Wood County Friday afternoon in an incident involving a semi truck and an SUV.

Jason Crampton, 48, of Findlay, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on U.S. 23.

According to the Wood County Sheriff's Office, law enforcement and a crash reconstructionist believe an SUV driven by Crampton, who was not wearing a seatbelt was traveling southbound on US 23 between Devils Hole and Sugar Ridge. The SUV traveled left of center, hitting a northbound semi truck. Authorities said the driver of the semi truck attempted to take evasive action to move out of the way, but collided with the SUV.

The driver of the semi truck was not injured.

A portion of Fostoria Road was shut down for about three hours Friday afternoon.

The crash remains under investigation, according to the Wood County Sheriff's Office.
