One person killed, two injured in Williams County crash Sunday

Alcohol is suspected as a factor in the crash, OSHP says.

TOLEDO, Ohio — One person was killed and two others were taken to the hospital after a two-vehicle crash in Williams County Sunday. 

According to a press release from Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP), 36-year-old Steven Thompson was traveling westbound in a 2019 Ford Ranger on County Road K in Jefferson Township at approximately 7:30 p.m. 

Authorities said Thompson failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of County Road K and County Road 16 and was struck by a driver traveling southbound on County Road 17. Thompson's vehicle overturned and came to rest in a creek.

Thompson was pronounced dead at the scene, OSHP said. A passenger in the Ford Ranger, as well as the driver of the second vehicle, were taken to the hospital with what authorities described as serious injuries. 

According to the press release, law enforcement suspected alcohol as a factor in the crash. The crash remains under investigation.
