TOLEDO, Ohio — A man was pronounced deceased Sunday afternoon at the Lucas County Corrections Center, in an incident that both the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Lucas County Sheriff's Office detectives are investigating.

Officers performed CPR on Webb until rescue crews arrived, the sheriff's office said. In a press release, authorities said Webb was taken to the hospital, where he was declared dead at 5:45 p.m.

Webb was jailed on Saturday for the charges of strangulation and domestic violence, which were filed by the Oregon Police Department upon his arrest. He had been in custody for a total of 30 hours when jail staff found him unresponsive, the sheriff's office said.

Authorities had placed Webb on medication after Webb told them he needed it upon his booking. Officers placed Webb in the open dorm supervision model, which is where those with medical or mental health issues are placed to allow officers better oversight, officials said.
