Oregon, Toledo fire departments respond to garage fire

The family of the home escaped the house and are safe, crews said.

OREGON, Ohio — Crews are on the scene of a structure fire on Schmidlin Road in Oregon Thursday afternoon.

The Oregon Fire and Rescue Department is handling the incident, which began sometime before 12:30 p.m. in the 800 block of Schmidlin Road. Toledo Fire and Rescue has also responded to the scene to provide assistance. 

Authorities at the scene told WTOL 11 the fire was in the detached garage of a home. The garage is a total loss. The family residing in the home was able to escape the home due to the fire alarms. The main home sustained some fire and smoke damage on the outside, crews said. 

The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
