FINDLAY, Ohio — One Findlay group that meets the needs of people in northwest Ohio is now in need of your help.
You can help by giving just a little of your time.
In its 10th year, Backyard Missions Trip in Findlay has grown from two to three local projects for churchgoers into an average of 300 projects with 1,000 volunteers.
Now, the one-day event has become one of the biggest events of service for the Findlay community.
"It's not just church members going out and doing service projects. We've got community groups, businesses also participate, boy scout troops take part for their volunteer hours and community service," Karl Heminger with Backyard Mission Trip said.
But after rescheduling the event from April to August, the currently registered volunteer numbers are down.
So the group is now reaching out to let everyone know that all COVID-19 safety precautions will be kept while the hundreds of potential projects are completed throughout the day.
You can register online, but they do accept walk-ins once the day officially begins at The Cube in Findlay at 7 a.m.
"We'd really encourage people to register in advance, we can get them on teams and get projects lined up in advance," Heminger said.
This year's Backyard Mission Trip Findlay is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 1.
