Family escapes early morning house fire in Gibsonburg

Officials at the scene told WTOL 11 a passerby alerted the family and called emergency crews for help.

GIBSONBURG, Ohio — The Gibsonburg Fire Department is investigating a house fire that occurred early Wednesday.

At the scene on West Madison Street, the Gibsonburg fire chief told WTOL 11 the call came in just before 4 a.m. and crews were on scene within four minutes. Once there, they could see a pole barn located behind the home that was fully engulfed in flames.

Officials told WTOL 11 a passerby noticed the flames, alerted the family and called emergency crews for help.

Everyone in the home made it out safely with no injuries. The neighboring homes were evacuated in case the fire spread. 

It’s unknown at this time what started the fire.

Helena, Pemberville and Woodville Township Fire Department’s, along with Sandusky County EMS, Gibsonburg Police Department and Village of Gibsonburg workers assisted at the scene.
