Coroner says object found by pet was not human finger

The object was transported to the Lucas County Coroner after deputies did a visual assessment of the object.

SENECA COUNTY, Ohio — An object retrieved by a cat in Seneca County initially believed to be a finger was determined not to be human remains, authorities said in a social media post Monday

A Tiffin-area resident called the Seneca County Sheriff's Office Sunday after their cat brought home what they suspected to be a human finger. Sheriff's deputies conducted a preliminary visual assessment of the object and could not immediately rule out that it was not human tissue, officials said. Deputies called the Seneca County Coroner for assistance, then collected and transported the object to the Lucas County Coroner's Office.
