Former Rossford Lanes property looking for new owner

The property on Dixie Highway, being sold through Danberry Realtors, was first listed at approximately $1.3 million on June 25.

ROSSFORD, Ohio — A familiar spot in Rossford is on the market once again.

"To me, it's an iconic building, an iconic location," said Rossford Mayor Neil MacKinnon III.

The building at 969 Dixie Highway in Rossford once the home to Rossford Lanes is now looking for a new owner.

Its current owners, Cody and Jacqueline Ickes, purchased the property in February from Forest View Lanes, which previously owned it for about three years.

Forest View Lanes' chief entertainment officer Rich Kenny sold the building after dealing with financial struggles. He tried to restore the lanes after buying the property in January 2021.

Now, the building has a new plan.

"I think the original plan was to buy it, remodel it, turn it into a banquet and entertainment and event center and then sell it," MacKinnon said.

The building, listed on Danberry Realtors' page for approximately $1.3 million, has gone through a facelift, receiving a new exterior and gutted-out interior.

It's also located within Rossford's designated outdoor refreshment area, which will help generate buzz for fellow Rossford businesses, said Kennedy Durco, a server at nearby Danny's Cafe.

"Every Tuesday, we have to stroll the streets and we are actually a part of it," Durco said. "You can actually get DORA cups and our traffic that we get on Tuesdays especially is crazy. But it's crazy good in a positive way, so I think that business will definitely help in the DORA area."

MacKinnon said he's happy to see the building stay.

"I'm glad it's staying. I'm glad they've rehabbed it, they beautified it and I'm glad it's going to be a successful space," he said.

Durco said she's curious about what will fill the spot next.

"Maybe just a cool little local restaurant, coffee shop, plant shop. Those are things I like," she said. "Anything that's in there is just going to be great and it's going to do awesome."

The building itself has a deep history, too. For those who remember it, it has brought joy.

"If you grew up in Rossford, you've had plenty of memories, generational memories at the Rossford Bowling Lanes," MacKinnon said.
