TECUMSEH, Mich. — Michigan State Police are investigating a two-vehicle crash that occurred on East Monroe Road Saturday evening.
According to a report from police, at around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24 a red Ford Taurus was traveling eastbound on Monroe Road when it was struck by a blue Chevrolet Equinox that was traveling westbound.
East Monroe Road near Matthew Highway was shut down for several hours as state troopers investigated the crash, states MSP.
Investigators on scene said the driver of the Chevy, an 85-year-old Tecumseh man and his passenger, his 82-year-old wife were killed in the crash.
Authorities state the driver of the Ford, a 72-year-old Adrian, Michigan man and his passengers, which include a 74-year old woman, 26-year-old woman and 25-year-old man all from Adrian, were transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
Police believe that all of the occupants of the Ford are expected to recover.
Circumstances leading up to the crash are unknown at this time, but investigators said that alcohol and excessive speed are not factors in the crash.
