Bowersox, who has continued her singing and songwriting career and now lives in Nashville, will return to Toledo School for the Arts on Saturday, Sept. 14 to perform.
"I'm so excited to be performing in my home city - and even more so to be performing in my ol' school's beautiful new performance space," Bowersox wrote on her Facebook page.
Another Toledo School for the Arts alum who performed on American Idol, Robbie Clark, will open for Bowersox on Saturday.
"Crystal and I both went to Toledo School for the Arts, we were both on American Idol after graduation, and both have a love for creating connection through the art of music!" Clark wrote on social media. "So getting the chance to open for Crystal Bowersox is a dream come true!"
In addition to the concert, Bowersox will tell her story to TSA students on Friday.
Tickets to the 7 p.m. concert cost $20 for general admission, while VIP tickets cost $40. Proceeds will go to the school's Pam Hollenbeck Storytelling Fund, which funds guest artists and lecturers for students.
