Sandusky man dies after being struck by car in Erie County Tuesday night

The incident happened at 8:42 p.m. on U.S. Route 250 near State Route 2 in Perkins Township.

ERIE COUNTY, OHIO, Ohio — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the death of a pedestrian in Erie County Tuesday night.

The incident happened at 8:42 p.m. on U.S. Route 250 near State Route 2 in Perkins Township.

79-year-old Roger Fox, of Sandusky, was walking eastbound across U.S. 250 outside of a marked crosswalk when he tripped on the center line partitions and fell into the northbound lane. 

20-year-old Timothy Harrod, of Sandusky, was driving a 2011 Chrysler 200 northbound on U.S. 250 when he hit Fox with his car. 

Fox was pronouced dead at the scene. Harrod was not injured in the crash.

Alcohol or drug use are not believed to be factors in the crash.
