TOLEDO, Ohio — United Way of Greater Toledo has announced the Backpack Blast event will be held at the John F. Savage Arena Concourse at the University of Toledo on Aug. 8, from 8:30-10 a.m.
Nearly 40% of families in the area live paycheck to paycheck and struggle to meet their basic needs. These families are then forced to make tough choices, between paying utility bills, putting food on the table for their families or buying school supplies for their children.
The Backpack Blast will bring together around 250 community volunteers to pack more than 1,000 backpacks so school children in northwest Ohio have what they need to succeed for the upcoming academic year.
