West Toledo home catches fire twice in same day

TFRD crews told WTOL they spent over two hours putting out a fire at the home, but hours later it re-ignited.

TOLEDO, Ohio — Toledo Fire & Rescue Department are investigating after a home in west Toledo ignited into flames twice in one day.

The incidents happened at a home on the 800 block of Southbriar Road, south of Dorr Street.

The first blaze happened around 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

Fire crews told WTOL they spent over two hours with a thermal detector making sure the first blaze was extinguished, but the fire re-ignited just hours later.

The second blaze happened around 11 p.m.

No injuries were reported. 

One adult and multiple children escaped the fire and were assisted by The Red Cross.

The cause of the first fire is under investigation.
