OHIO, USA — Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose shared reminders for Ohioans as early voting is set to begin in the state on Tuesday, Oct. 8.

Early voting begins the day after the voter registration deadline. After that, registered voters may cast an early in-person ballot at their county board of elections.

Here's how the early in-person voting schedule breaks down, according to the Secretary of State's website:

  • Oct. 8-11: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
  • Oct. 14-18: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
  • Oct. 21-25: 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.
  • Oct. 26: 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
  • Oct. 27: 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.
  • Oct. 28: 7:30 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.
  • Oct. 29: 7:30 a.m. - 8:30 p.m.
  • Oct. 30 - Nov. 1: 7:30 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.
  • Nov. 2: 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
  • Nov. 3: 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.

“Bipartisan election officials across Ohio made a commitment to ensure we're fully prepared for this high-profile election. With one week until the start of early voting, I can confidently say that we are prepared for voters to begin heading to their early voting centers and begin receiving their requested absentee ballots,” LaRose said. “Tedious preparation is the key to executing any successful election, and Ohioans can have confidence that no matter which of Ohio’s three convenient methods of voting they choose, their vote will be secure.”

The Secretary of State's Office said local boards of elections will begin mailing ballots on Oct. 8 to Ohioans who requested absentee ballots. Absentee ballots must be postmarked no later than Nov. 4 and must be received no later than four days after Election Day at their board of elections.

LaRose's office said voters who plan to vote either early, in-person or on Election Day must present an approved photo ID at their polling location.

Here are valid types of photo identification:

  • Ohio driver's license
  • State of Ohio ID card
  • Interim ID form issued by the Ohio BMV
  • US passport
  • US passport card
  • US military ID card including Ohio National Guard
  • US Department of Veterans Affairs ID card
