TOLEDO, Ohio — It's bowl day for Bowing Green State University Tuesday.
The Falcons will play Minnesota in the Quick Lane Bowl at Ford Field in Detroit at 2 p.m. This is the same bowl game in which the Falcons played last season.
Bowling Green finished the 2023 regular season 7-5 to give the Falcons their first winning season since 2015.
Minnesota had a 5-7 regular season record. They qualified for a bowl game by NCAA rule with the best Academic Progress Rate score among the five-win teams after there was a shortage of eligible teams. The Gophers have a six-game bowl winning streak that began with the 2015 Quick Lane Bowl.
Minnesota is favored by 4 1/2 points to win Tuesday's game, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. Minnesota lost to Bowling Green in a 2021 bowl game when the Falcons were a 31-point underdog.
Bowling Green is the only MAC team to have beaten Minnesota more than once, also winning at the Metrodome in the 2007 season opener, and the all-time series is tied at two wins each.
Minnesota has a six-game bowl winning streak that began with the 2015 Quick Lane Bowl.
The Falcons lost to New Mexico State 24-19 in last year’s Quick Lane Bowl.
