TOLEDO, Ohio — A driver was killed in a crash in south Toledo Friday morning in an incident that required an extrication, authorities said.
Crews responded to the 1600 block of Western Avenue after 9 a.m. Friday regarding a single-vehicle crash. In a report issued Friday afternoon, police said 86-year-old Carole Loth was traveling westbound on Western near Champion Street and lost control of the vehicle before striking a utility pole.
According to police on scene, Loth was extricated from the vehicle, which had rolled over into a yard. Toledo police were unsure of the driver's condition at the time of the incident, but described the injuries as serious.
Police said in a later report that Loth had died.
According to authorities, the area of Western Avenue at Champion Street was closed for several hours while crews investigated.
