TOLEDO, Ohio — The average price of a gallon of gas in Toledo has fallen for the 12th week in a row, marking three straight months of consistent descent in price.

A gallon of gas costs, on average, $2.80 in Toledo as of Monday, 11.1 cents lower per gallon than last week, according to GasBuddy. The price is also now 44.8 cents lower than it was a month ago. The GasBuddy survey found the cheapest station in Toledo was priced at $2.59/gallon, while the most expensive was $3.29/gallon. Statewide, the range was $4.45/gallon to $2.39/gallon from highest to lowest.

Nationally, Toledo gas prices are just slightly below the rest of the country. In a survey of 150,000 gas stations cross the U.S., the average price of a gallon of gas was $3.11, a figure that also continues to see consistent lowering according to GasBuddy.

The average price of a gallon of gas for Dec. 11 is the lowest it has been on this date in previous years since 2020:

  • Dec. 11, 2021: $3.09/gallon
  • Dec. 11, 2020: $1.98/gallon

If your wish this holiday season was to see cheaper gas prices, you may be in luck, a GasBuddy analyst said.

"For the 12th straight week, or three straight months, the national average has continued to decline, now at its lowest level of 2023 heading into the prime of the holiday season as oil prices continue to struggle amidst cooling demand," Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, said in a press release. "With nearly 80,000 gas stations in the U.S. now priced below $3 per gallon, and 23 states also seeing average prices of $2.99 or less, motorists are getting substantial relief at the pump in time for the holidays."

With 2024 just around the corner, insight into next year's prices are coming soon.

"The trend is likely to continue in most states this week, while the national average could soon fall below $3.05 per gallon, the lowest since 2021," De Haan said. "The good news may continue into 2024, with GasBuddy's annual Fuel Outlook being released in just a few weeks."
