TOLEDO, Ohio — One person was taken into custody Wednesday evening during a warrant service in which a Toledo police officer was treated for "significant exposure" to a suspect's open wounds, according to a police report.

Crews responded to the 600 block of Berry Street at approximately 7:30 p.m. after receiving a weapons call. The suspect, Kerry Trester, was allegedly under the influence of drugs and armed with a knife. An officer took Trester, who had outstanding warrants, into custody. Trester had existing cuts to his hand, with which the officer had direct contact, according to police.
