Sylvania Twp. police: Shooting victims remain in hospital, describe suspect to detectives

Both victims are still in serious condition, according to police.

SYLVANIA TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Sylvania Township police provided an update Wednesday to a shooting that injured two people early Monday. 

According to a social media post from police, both victims remain hospitalized in serious condition. 

In a police report, authorities said said they could hear someone asking for help on the phone. According to a press release, officers arrived at the scene to find two people shot inside of a home.

Police said the victims gave a description of the suspect, whom they described as a "male of unknown race waring all dark clothing with his face covered". Police said they did not have any information regarding an involved vehicle. 

Sylvania Township police said the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation assisted in processing the crime scene, and the investigation is ongoing. Evidence from the scene is being processed to help find leads, police said. 

The two victims were shot just before 1 a.m. in the 4500 block of Crossfields Road near Corey Road. According to a 911 call, a person explains they've been shot four to five times, including in the face and legs. The same caller said they chased the alleged intruder out of the house.

During another call to 911, a caller can be heard saying "it's a nightmare" following the moments after being shot.

Police said on social media Tuesday afternoon that the department has no reason to believe the public is in danger.
