TOLEDO, Ohio — Three people were injured, including one officer, following a two-vehicle crash Saturday when police were responding to a chase with a separate suspect vehicle.
Police were responding to a pursuit of a suspect fleeing officers in a vehicle at approximately 4 p.m. in north Toledo. The Toledo police officer, whose vehicle lights were activated, was attempting to respond to the pursuit, and approached the I-75 north entrance ramp from Phillips Avenue.
A second driver, who was not the suspect driver in the aforementioned pursuit, was traveling southbound on Phillips Avenue and failed to yield to the officer when making a left turn.
The two vehicles collided. According to the report, both the driver and passenger of the civilian vehicle were taken to the hospital. The officer involved was also taken to the hospital in a patrol vehicle. No one sustained serious injuries, police said in the report, and the officer is not expected to miss nay work.
