TOLEDO, Ohio — A 5-month-old child died of injuries Wednesday caused when a north Toledo man allegedly kicked the infant in the head twice.
According to a press release from Toledo police, Lawrence Lambert, 24, was charged with murder Thursday after the infant, Legend Lambert, died. In a Toledo police report, Lawrence Lambert was described as the father of Legend Lambert.
Lawrence Lambert was already in custody from his arrest last week, when he was initially charged with felonious assault. He is scheduled for an initial appearance in Toledo Municipal Court Friday at 9 a.m.
A grand jury indicted Lawrence Lambert Thursday on one charge of aggravated murder, two charges of murder, one charge of endangering children and one charge of felonious assault.
The Lucas County Coroner's Office conducted an autopsy on Legend lambert, who said the infant sustained non-accidental blunt force injuries to the head, and found severe a cerebral edema, a subdural hemorrhage and a subarachnoid hemorrhage.

Emergency crews responded to the 700 block of Walnut Street on March 6 on a call for an injured child. Crews transported the Legend Lambert to the hospital with traumatic brain bleeds and other injuries. Lucas County Children Services contacted Toledo police, who opened an investigation and arrested Lawrence Lambert on March 8 on charges of endangering children and felonious assault.
