TOLEDO, Ohio — Police arrested one person accused of misusing 911 in central Toledo Wednesday evening, in an incident that resulted in the hospitalization of two people, including the caller.
According to a Toledo police report, officers responded to a home on Rosalind Place at approximately 8:40 p.m. three times after receiving 911 calls. The third time, police said they heard a female crying in the home, and no one answered the door, so officers forced entry through the front door.
Police found a 52-year-old unconscious in the bathroom. The person was treated on scene and transported to the hospital. Police did not state what injuries or conditions the person was suffering from.
Officers then located Laura Porter in a closet, whom police claimed in a court document made the 911 calls and did not open the door for police when they arrived and announced themselves. According to police, Porter also remained in the closet when police arrived and refused to make her presence known.
According to the report, Porter had several outstanding warrants, and was arrested. Porter then had a medical episode and was transported to the hospital, police claimed. The report and court documents did not state the nature of the medical episode.
Porter was charged with a second-degree misdemeanor charge of obstructing official business and a fourth-degree misdemeanor charge of misuse of 911.
