TOLEDO, Ohio — The Toledo Police Department has released results of a recent operation to improve the quality of life in west Toledo.
The initiative began Sept. 3 and was the latest in a series of Toledo Enhancement Area Method (T.E.A.M.) operations. The west Toledo operation was the first to focus on that area since the TEAM initiative began in 2022, and the third operation in 2024, according to Toledo police.
Local, state and federal agencies were involved in the T.E.A.M. operation, which addressed safety issues, traffic violations, juvenile offenses and blight. It coincided with the city of Toledo's Block-by-Block trash pickup in the west Toledo neighborhoods of DeVeaux and Trilby.
The west Toledo T.E.A.M. operation resulted in:
- Guns seized: 19
- Search warrants executed: 10
- Dollar amount of drugs seized: $15,715
- Persons arrested: 62
- Citations issued: 386
- Parking tags issued: 154
- Curfew violators: 5
- Truants processed: 33
- Gun safety programs: 5
- Gun safety billboards: 4
- Community events: 3
- Blight properties/city referrals: 27
- Junk/abandoned cars towed: 125
- Block-by-Block Cleanup: 50,163 pounds of debris and 47 tires
"The operation will continue as the department will partner with other Toledo public service departments and the community to improve the quality of life in West Toledo," a Toledo police spokesperson said in the media release sent Thursday.
