FREMONT, Ohio — The Sandusky County YMCA has launched a new program to provide health services to those battling cancer, as well as cancer survivors.
According to a press release from the YMCA, the LIVESTRONG Cancer Survivorship Program will provide well-being and physical activity programming to adult cancer patients and survivors. The Sandusky County YMCA joins nearly 800 other YMCAs nationwide who offer the program.
The programming provides an environment of support for those affected by cancer to help them reach goals of health, strength and physical fitness, the YMCA said. The organization added that the program aims to also provides a sense of community for anyone affected by the disease.
The YMCA's site states the program lasts 12 weeks and was supported by United Way of Sandusky County and the Key Bank Foundation.
The program is free and open to all cancer patients and survivors 18 years and older. Participants do not need to live in Sandusky County or be a YMCA member.
