Bomb squad called out to Maumee for a suspicious package outside business

According to a police report, a duffel bag that appeared to be new was placed outside of a business on Conant Street.

MAUMEE, Ohio — The Northwest Ohio Bomb Squad was called out to Maumee on Monday night for reports of a suspicious package outside of a business.

The Maumee Police Division received the call of a suspicious package around 9 p.m. at 209 Conant Street. Police said that there was a newer red duffel bag located on the south side of the business. Responding officers said they did not recognize this as the normal bag the business uses to hold down their sign.

The bomb squad was called out to investigate and it was "found not to be a viable device" after they x-rayed the bag.
