OHIO, USA — The Northwest Ohio Bomb Squad responded to two separate incidents in the area Friday to collect and dispose of mortar rounds.
According to Toledo police reports, the bomb squad was dispatched to assist the Seneca County Sheriff's Office in Tiffin Friday at approximately 2 p.m., where the family of a deceased WWII veteran said they had found an old mortar round. The bomb squad collected the object and secured it for later disposal.
Fewer than two hours later, the bomb squad was again dispatched, this time to assist Delta Police at Blue Scope Recycling on OH-109 Friday at approximately 3:45 p.m. According to police, employees of the facility had found a large mortar round in the metal scrap yard. Crews collected the item and secured it for later disposal.
