Toledo Police said they were pursuing the vehicle after it fled a traffic stop Friday night.

TOLEDO, Ohio — Editor's note: The story was updated to reflect new information from Toledo Police.

One person died and three others were injured when a vehicle collided with a building after a police chase in east Toledo late Friday.

Toledo Police said that they attempted to pull over a vehicle without a license plate when the driver took off, leading police to pursue the vehicle.

According to a traffic report from TPD, the vehicle, being driven by 25-year-old Thomas Turney was traveling northbound on Oak Street just south of Greenwood at approximately 11:20 p.m. Police claimed that the driver ran a red light, lost control of the vehicle and drove off the road to the right, up onto the sidewalk and struck the building at 515 Oak Street, which houses Ondrus Hardware.

The vehicle then traveled away from the building, crossed all lanes of travel on Oak Street and came to rest off the roadway to the left in front of 512 Oak Street.
