Police identify person found dead in vehicle following crash in Defiance

Police responded to the scene around 1:30 a.m.

TOLEDO, Ohio — Defiance police have identified a person found deceased in a vehicle early Monday, according to a press release from the police department. 

Officers responded to a single-vehicle crash on Perry Street at the railroad bridge viaduct at approximately 1:30 a.m., where they found the driver of the vehicle to be deceased. Authorities identified the deceased as 53-year-old Benjamin Rodriguez Jr. of Defiance.

The deceased's body was transported to the Lucas County Coroner's Office for an autopsy. 

The incident remains under investigation, police said.
