TOLEDO, Ohio — Franklin Park Mall in west Toledo was placed on lockdown late Friday afternoon after reports of gunshots.
According to Toledo police, a fight broke out inside the mall between a few people. It then made its way outside into the parking lot. That's when police say shots rang out.
No one was hurt, but a few vehicles were hit by the gunshots.
"I probably won't be coming to this mall anymore," said shopper Susie Murawski. "I don't feel safe."
Murawski said she remembers a time when the mall was different.
"I grew up in this area," she said. "I used to come here all the time. It's not nice anymore."
When she was leaving the mall Friday evening, she noticed her car was right in the middle of a police investigation.
"I see police officers walking around and people looking at the car in front of me, and I noticed it had a bunch of bullet holes in it," Murawski said.
Jay Branson was inside a sporting goods store with his son when the lockdown happened.
"I think it's 10 times scarier when my 10-year-old son is with me," he said. "My main concern was my child was with me and wanted to take cover," Branson said.
The mall was also placed on lockdown last weekend after a swatting call. In December of last year, two people were shot at the mall and suffered non-life-threatening injuries after police say someone accidentally fired a gun.
For Murawski, it's taking its toll.
"People are afraid, I'm afraid now," she said. "That was too close to home."
Police said several suspects, who have not been identified as of Friday night, were taken into custody.
A Franklin Park Mall spokesperson did not respond to a request for comment Friday afternoon.
