TFRD: Man escapes house fire early Monday in central Toledo

Firefighters at the scene told WTOL 11 the fire appeared to be accidental and most likely started somewhere in the front of the home before it spread inside.

TOLEDO, Ohio — A man safely escaped a house fire in Central Toledo early Monday.

Toledo Fire & Rescue Department reposnded to a fire call around 4 a.m. on the 300 block of Boston Place near Fulton Street. 

Firefighters at the scene told WTOL 11 the fire appeared to be accidental and most likely started somewhere in the front of the home before it spread inside.

Firefighters also said the porch was fully engulfed at one point and the home had lots of unlivable damages.

No injuries were reported.

WTOL 11 crews spoke to the home owner who said he grew up in the home and has lived there since 1967. He did not request Red Cross assistance.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
