Multiple pets die in house fire in Maumee

Maumee Fire Department said that no one was home at the time of the fire, but the home did sustain extensive damage.

MAUMEE, Ohio — An investigation is underway to determine what caused a house fire in Maumee that killed multiple pets Monday afternoon. 

Maumee Fire Department responded to a fire at a home on West John Street. Crews at the said the home is an occupied structure, but the residents were not home at the time. 

MFD said that multiple pets died in the fire and that the home sustained extensive damage. No other injuries were reported.

An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire.
