Man reported missing from Carey, village in Wyandot County, found dead; police investigating

Phillip Evans was reported missing on Feb. 3.

CAREY, Ohio — A Wyandot County man who was reported missing Saturday has been found deceased, according to a police report issued Wednesday.

Phillip Joseph Evans was reported missing from the 300 block of Cherry Blossom Lane in Carey before 2 a.m. Saturday after he left his residence on foot, police said. Officers from the Carey Police Department and Wyandot County Sheriff's Office said they searched multiple areas in and around Carey.

On Tuesday, officers from Carey PD said they responded to a residence in the 100 block of Oakwood Place. Officers checked the property and located a deceased male, whom the Wyandot County Coroner identified as Evans.

An agent from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation Crime Scene Unit also responded to the scene. Evans' body was transported to the Lucas County Coroner's Office for an autopsy.

Authorities continue to investigate.

Carey is a village in Wyandot County with a population of approximately 3,500 people. It is about 60 miles south of Toledo.
