TOLEDO, Ohio — UPDATE: The I-475 eastbound ramp to I-75 northbound has now reopened as of Tuesday evening.
The original report is below:
If your commute involves a popular interstate route through central Toledo, you should seek an alternate route Tuesday afternoon.
A tractor-trailer struck a metal ladder in the roadway around 3 p.m., puncturing its fuel tank, according to a Toledo police report. It spilled around 50 gallons of diesel on I-475 eastbound, according to a Toledo Fire & Rescue Department spokesperson.
Because of the spill, the I-475 eastbound ramp to I-75 northbound is closed to all traffic.
The spill is contained and it is not a hazardous material situation, TFRD said. The Ohio Department of Transportation is responding to the scene to assist in cleanup with sand.
The I-475 eastbound ramp to I-75 northbound will be closed for an estimated 2-3 hours for cleanup. TFRD also said that there were no injuries in the incident.
Drivers should seek an alternate route and expect delays in travel.
