TOLEDO, Ohio — UPDATE: Additional weather data has indicated the risk of severe weather has diminished considerably in northwest Ohio and has instead shifted to the south. The WTOL 11 Weather Team has dropped the ALERT DAY for Wednesday.

The original story is below:

An ALERT DAY has been issued for the risk of strong to severe storms for Wednesday afternoon and evening.

Although Tuesday night's weather is not expected to be severe, a second and more powerful round of thunderstorms will be possible beginning Wednesday afternoon, which may include damaging winds, large hail and the risk of tornadoes.

Here are the 3 things to know:

1. Stronger storms are possible Wednesday afternoon and evening

This includes damaging wind gusts, very large hail and the risk of tornadoes. Torrential downpours may continue the risk of localized flooding.

The tornado threat is low, but there is still a chance for a brief spin-up tornado.

The amount of instability is incredibly high, which may cause more widespread severe storms.

2. Strong winds will be the biggest threat

One of the biggest threats with these severe storms will be wind, which may exceed 60 mph.

Damage to trees and some power outages are possible. A tornado threat cannot be ruled out, but the probability is low.

Be prepared with a plan if severe weather does appear, and have mobile devices charged in case severe weather results in the loss of power.

Flooding is also something to watch out for, as very heavy rain is likely.
