FREMONT, Ohio — A man pleaded guilty and was sentenced in the February stabbing that killed one person in Fremont.
According to records from the Sandusky County Common Pleas Court, Judd Campbell was found guilty on three counts: murder, gross abuse of a corpse and possessing criminal tools.
For the first count, Campbell was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison. The murder sentencing will run consecutively with his sentences for the other two charges, which are 12 months each. The aggregate minimum term for all counts, court documents state, is 17 years, and the maximum term is life.
If released, Campbell will be subject to a five year sentence of post-release control. Campbell received 214 days of jail time credit.
Campbell was arrested on Feb. 17 after officers found an unresponsive person in the 300 block of May Street. Police determined a victim, whom they described as male, had been stabbed and killed. Police said they believed Campbell had acted alone.
The identity of the victim was not made available by authorities.
